Updated: Jun 28

Congratulations to Staff member, Stephanie Joseph, for her latest accomplishment: Graduating from the Community Advocacy Institute - an initiative of the Community Action Board of Montgomery County. This training program teaches basic advocacy skills and provides participants with opportunities to advocate for important issues in our community.

Stephanie says:

"I deeply appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Community Advocacy Institute Program as it was fulfilling, meaningful and rewarding to be able to advocate with passion and persistence for something I very strongly support and believe in - mental health services in the County. This journey has taught me the profound importance of the critical need for adequate support and resources, and I am committed to continuing this vital work.

My journey in advocating for mental health funding has deepened my understanding of the struggles so many people encounter, and the transformative power of proper care and funding, knowing that my efforts can lead to real, tangible improvements in people's lives. It has reaffirmed my belief in the power of collective action and the importance of speaking up for those who cannot always speak for themselves. Advocating for mental health funding has meant giving a voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, and light to those in the darkness and it is a cause that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Moving forward, I have developed a strategic plan to further my efforts and ensure that mental health services receive the attention and resources they deserve. Through the following actions, building awareness, policy change, and building partnerships I dedicate myself to making a lasting difference in the mental health landscape to create a world where mental health is prioritized, supported, and adequately funded."
